Hey blog… I am pregnant!

Pretty crazy to realize that I am now 9 months pregnant, and I haven’t even updated anything about it here on my blog?! So sorry for this. It has been a year of many changes and the biggest one is still to come: having a baby and becoming a mother! Gosh. It has been a dream of mine since a child, and it still feels unreal!

38 weeks - meaning now the baby is fully developed, but she still seems to be comfortable on the inside… hehe.

I’ve been lucky to feel very well

During all this time, I’ve been feeling very well and I’ve been able to live quite similar as before. I held workout sessions until 6 months pregnant, however, I continued to workout on my own afterwards. Looking back at how well I’ve been feeling, I could have continued to hold some classes during summer, but since it’s my 1st child, the safest thing felt to have a pause and listen to my body, step by step.

Week 5 - here I was in Tenerife in the end of December 2025 - to beginning of January 2026, knowing I was pregnant, cause I could feel the signs of early pregnancy. I was a bit afraid of having a miscarriage, which I had exactly a year before this picture was taken. I had not taken a pregnancy test here, but I was quite sure I was pregnant!

These were typical pregnancy signs I felt

Okay, even if I’ve been feeling well, I won’t say I was feeling exactly the same as before, of course I also felt some typical signs of being pregnant, especially in the beginning. The very first sign I felt was having super tender breasts, I could relate back to being in puberty when they hurt a lot. You know, someone hugging you and it just hurts! It also hurt when working out and jumping or doing similar moves.

Pretty early on I was also very gassy, which is super normal and a result of increased hormones of progesterone in the body. So be ready for that if you’re also planning on getting pregnant hehe. What’s recommended is to eat less, but more often, to stay hydrated and keep on moving / exercising.

For the first time I also had to wake up at night for urinating, gosh - one urinates a lot more when pregnant compared to not being pregnant! I was also really sensitive to different smells. Sometimes I even forgot which state I am in, and I remember wondering in the grocery shop to myself “How can that guy has soooo much perfume on?”… and then I remembered I am pregnant, haha.

Another thing I felt was sudden extreme hunger. To eat regularly and not get low sugar blood felt important at a level I hadn’t really realized before. I had not been as sensitive as now to eating regularly - even though I know it is important.

Week 18 - now 20 weeks ago! Pretty crazy how fast it has went, even though it also feels like I’ve been pregnant for a really long time. During the beginning, I felt all these typical early signs of pregnancy. I also wondered why I was so small and why my pregnancy belly didn’t really show.

Which were my cravings?

Interestingly enough, I actually didn’t feel any specific cravings during this pregnancy! But what I totally related to was to being hungry very often and having a really good appetite, hehe. I also ate much more various than before, meaning more sweets, bread and pastries compared to before. So I actually didn’t follow a strict anti-inflammatory diet or similar during these months. When it comes to green smoothies, I didn’t feel like doing them after a while, because it felt safer to eat natural yoghurt bowls with berries, granola, oats, peanut butter and dates. You know, superfood in smoothies isn’t always that recommended for pregnant women. But I didn’t avoid smoothies, I just didn’t feel like making them myself.

Week 20 - I held a speaking event about “How to keep healthy routines during vacation” at café Verde in Ekenäs. It was so much fun and I was truly happy to be able to inspire women to healthy living in a cozy spot where the participants got to enjoy healthy snacks from the café! This is what I love doing!

Week 21 - in April, we were at my sister’s place in Sweden and had just taken our 2nd ultrasound in Finland, so during our trip we “revealed to the world” that we were pregnant! :)

What do I think of traveling while pregnant?

Well, as long as your body feels okay, I believe it’s safe. I did travel while pregnant, because I didn’t feel afraid and because we had some nice reasons for going abroad. In April, we went to my sister in Sweden and in May we were in Italy. Tuscany was so beautiful and it was pretty easy to avoid wine, even if we were in the heart of wine regions.

That’s actually something that’s been surprisingly easy; avoiding alcohol. Normally, I do enjoy prosecco and wine on special occasions, so I was happy to see how easy it has been to not drink. It has also been a pleasure to wake up each Sunday and feel fresh (as fresh as you do when pregnant hehe)! As you also know if you’ve read about me, is that I used to be a bit of a “party girl” when younger, and in my family wine and bubbles are really common during dinners and events.

My last trip during the pregnancy was to go to Switzerland in the end of June, I was in week 31-32, so it’s not really recommended for pregnant women to travel far during this stage of pregnancy, but luckily nothing happened and I was feeling fine the whole time! The only thing that hit pretty hard was the heat in Switzerland, but I can’t say if it was because of being pregnant or just in general. It was 36-38 degrees Celsius, so pregnant or not - pretty hot for a “Scandinavian” when no wind or sea to swim in, just the lakes.

Week 23 - tanning at a really nice hotel in Tuscany! My belly was pretty small still at this point.

Week 32 - tanning and swimming in Merlischachen, Switzerland, enjoying an alcohol free Swiss beer.

Week 32 - this was one of my last jogging rounds as pregnant. Not much longer after this, I felt like “power walking” instead of jogging, because my belly grew and got bigger and more uncomfortable.

But I am thankful my body was able to be so active for such a long time. Keep in mind - I ran pretty slowly and I did listen to my body. Sometimes I had to take breaks or walk instead!

Busy summer preparing to become a parent!

So a lot happened in July. During June and July, we were in a phase of buying a new home, and it showed us how inflexible and impersonal today’s service is! But in the end it turned out really well for us, and we were able to get the keys earlier than promised. This meant we had time to renovate during July, just in time before Oskar had to get back to work and before the baby’s arrival.

While vacationing in Switzerland, I found out I had to find a new tenant to my flat in Ekenäs, so that felt a bit stressful as well. Then when we got home from the airport in Finland, we were in a roadkill accident so Oskar’s car got destroyed! So there were a lot of expenses in July, having to buy a new baby-friendly car as well!

But we finally got all in place, for example: a new stroller, a new home, a new car, baby clothes… the most important things for welcoming a child into a safe space! Now we’re just waiting for the baby to arrive! 💛
